Website where you can easily hire a professional for a small task

It is a website called Fiverr, which was founded by Shai Wininger and Micha Kaufman.

I have been using Fiverr since 2013. The company is located in Israel and offers over 3 million services for entrepreneurs. When you hire someone, you of course receive an invoice for your company or for yourself as an individual, and people also put effort into their work, since you rate them at the end and every rating counts towards their future work and dealings with clients. Through the Fiverr website, you can for example hire a graphic designer, translator, marketing specialist, programmer, someone to edit your video, etc. In addition to the payment for the service you hire, since July 2016 you also have to pay a processing fee, which amounts to 1 dollar for orders up to 20 dollars and 5 percent for orders over 20 dollars.

The goal of the website is primarily the simple execution of small tasks that you only need at a specific moment, meaning you can hire people for a one-time task and are not obligated to work with the same person again in the future. Prices range from 5 dollars up to several thousand dollars. The services offered are called gigs.

Fiverr recognizes four types of sellers:
– New seller (active on Fiverr for at least 30 days, have at least 10 orders and at least 4 stars)
Level 1 (at least 50 orders within two months, a rating of at least 4.5)
Level 2 (a large number of orders, a rating of at least 4.7 to 5)
Top rated seller (the highest level) – selected by Fiverr editors

The website is divided into nine categories:

  • Graphics & Design: Business card, logo, t-shirt, flyer design, etc.
  • Digital marketing: Help with marketing strategy, optimization, email marketing, etc.
  • Writing & Translation: Translation, press releases, writing assistance, etc.
  • Video & Animation: Hire a person to speak in English for you, video animations, presentation videos, etc.
  • Music & Audio: Voice lending, recording specific sounds, adding musical effects, etc.
  • Programming & Tech: Help with your website, online store, mobile app, analytics setup, etc.
  • Advertising: People hold a sign with your logo and get photographed, etc.
  • Business: You can hire a virtual assistant, someone for market research, etc.
  • Fun & Lifestyle: Someone offers you online courses, relationship advice, or simply makes a funny video for you, etc.

What I recommend you check before ordering a service on Fiverr:
The number of orders the person has – the more orders they have, the better.
The number of stars – from one to five.
Positive rating, expressed as a % from 1 to 100.
Description or About this gig – a description of the service they are offering.

A tip that many people don’t use when ordering on Fiverr: Send a private message to the seller and ask them something before placing an order, or negotiate a special offer if you plan to order more from the same seller, for example. Every seller has the option to create a special offer for you.
