Aave – for Earning

Cryptocurrencies have become extremely popular in Slovenia, but most people still make the same mistake: they buy crypto and leave it sitting on exchanges. By doing so, they are losing a huge amount of money. Imagine you had 10,000 euros in a bank, and instead of paying you interest, the bank only charged you storage fees. That makes no sense, right? In the crypto world, you can become the bank and earn interest that is incomparably higher than what you’d get in the traditional financial system.

In this article, I’ll teach you step by step, in plain terms and without complicated theory, how the Aave platform works and how you can use it today to earn real crypto income. If you’re a complete beginner, don’t worry. I’ll explain every term in detail so you know exactly where to click and how to manage your money safely.

But before we dive into the world of decentralized finance (DeFi), I invite you to take advantage of an incredible opportunity where I show all of these steps using practical examples. What is Aave and why is it your path to crypto income?

To understand how to earn with Aave, we first need to explain what this platform actually is. Aave is one of the largest and most secure protocols for DeFi (Decentralized Finance) in the world.

What does DeFi (Decentralized Finance) mean? It’s a term for financial services such as lending, borrowing, and trading that take place directly between people using blockchain technology, without intermediaries such as traditional banks, notaries, or companies. Everything is controlled by computer code, which means costs are minimal, and the profits are shared among users instead of bankers – that is, you and me.

Aave works like a large, automated digital pool of money (in the crypto world, we call this a liquidity pool or Liquidity Pool). Imagine it as a giant digital vault where people from all over the world deposit their cryptocurrencies.

There are two main groups of people who use Aave:

  1. Lenders (users who want to earn income): This is you. You deposit your cryptocurrencies into this vault and receive interest in return. Because the system runs around the clock, your interest grows literally every second.
  2. Borrowers (users who need money): These are people who need capital for trading or other projects. They borrow cryptocurrencies from this vault and pay interest for doing so. Part of this interest goes directly to your account.

The best part? The whole thing is completely automated. You don’t have to look for someone who wants to borrow your money. You don’t have to check their creditworthiness. A smart contract (Smart Contract) does all of this for you safely, quickly, and without errors.

How do smart contracts (Smart Contracts) work on Aave?

Because I want you, as a beginner, to fully understand the security of your money, we need to clarify a key concept on which the entire Aave system rests. That concept is smart contracts.

What is a smart contract (Smart Contract)? It’s a computer program, or code, that is written on the blockchain and executes automatically when predetermined conditions are met. Think of it as a digital vending machine: when you insert a coin and press the button, the machine gives you a can of soda without any human intermediary. If you don’t meet the conditions (money + button), you don’t get the drink.

On the Aave platform, the smart contract makes sure that whoever borrows money can never run off with your funds. In order for someone to borrow cryptocurrencies from the shared vault in the first place, they have to deposit their own collateral in the form of another cryptocurrency. This collateral must always be worth more than the amount they are borrowing. In the crypto world, we call this process over-collateralization (Over-collateralization).

If someone wants to borrow, say, Bitcoin worth 1,000 euros, they have to lock up Ethereum worth at least 1,500 euros in the system as collateral. If the borrower doesn’t repay the loan, or if the value of their collateral drops too far, the smart contract automatically sells their collateral, pays you (the lender) back, and thereby fully protects your capital. That’s why Aave is one of the safest ways to earn with cryptocurrencies, since the system doesn’t have “bad loans” or defaulters the way we know them in the real world.

If you find this interesting and want to find out which cryptocurrencies are currently best for investing in these systems, secure your spot at my free webinar, where we’ll go through the most profitable strategies in practice.

Overview of Aave products: What does the platform offer?

When you visit the official Aave website, you’ll notice a Products tab in the main menu. Let’s take a close look at what each of the options on offer means and how they relate to your goal of earning with cryptocurrencies.

1. Aave App (Aave application)

This is the main gateway to the world of your earnings. As their website says: “Savings for everyone”. When you click this option, a simple graphical interface opens where you connect your digital wallet. Here you’ll see an exact list of the cryptocurrencies you can deposit and the yield percentages (APY) you’ll receive. This is your central workspace.

2. Aave V3

The label V3 stands for the third version of the protocol. Think of it as an operating system update on your smartphone. V3 brings significantly lower transaction costs (Gas fees), greater security, and advanced modes of operation such as Efficiency Mode (E-Mode), which allows users to squeeze even more yield out of their assets. For you as a beginner, this is great news, because it means you’ll spend less money on fees and keep more for yourself.

3. Aave Pro V4

This is an exceptionally powerful version of the protocol, designed for institutions and for those who want the full power of the DeFi ecosystem (“The full power of DeFi”). It offers even better capital efficiency and advanced networking between different blockchains. Although it is designed for the big players, its technological advantages benefit the entire system, as they ensure stability and a constant inflow of capital, which keeps interest rates high for us ordinary investors.

4. Aave Kit

This product is intended for developers, or programmers (“Build with Aave”). It allows them to integrate Aave technology into their apps, games, or websites. The more developers who use Aave Kit, the more the entire ecosystem grows and the more people use Aave, which in the long run increases demand and the stability of the protocol.

A Practical Guide: How to Start Earning on Aave (Step by Step)

Enough theory. You’re here because you’re interested in earning real money with cryptocurrencies. Below is the exact process for putting your money to work on Aave, written so simply that you can follow it today.

Step 1: Create and Fund Your Digital Wallet

To interact with Aave, you need your own digital wallet, or Crypto Wallet. Forget about accounts on exchanges such as Binance or Coinbase – there you don’t have full control over your keys. The most popular free wallet for beginners is MetaMask.

  1. Download MetaMask as an extension for your web browser (e.g., Google Chrome).
  2. During the registration process, be sure to write down your recovery phrase (12 words) on a piece of paper and hide it. Never photograph it with your phone and never show it to anyone! It is the only key to your money.
  3. Transfer some cryptocurrency to your MetaMask wallet from any exchange. To start, I recommend stable coins (Stablecoins) such as USDC or USDT.

What is a stablecoin? It is a special type of cryptocurrency whose value is pegged to the value of a real-world currency, most commonly the US dollar (USD). This means that 1 USDC is always worth exactly 1 US dollar. This way you completely avoid the price swings (volatility) typical of Bitcoin or Ethereum, and you know exactly how much your assets will be worth in a month or a year.

Step 2: Connect Your Wallet to the Aave App

Once you have stablecoins ready in your wallet, visit the official Aave website and click the black button in the upper right corner: Use Aave, or select the Aave App product.

The website will prompt you to connect your wallet. Click the MetaMask icon, confirm the connection in your wallet (this is completely free), and you’re already inside the system.

Step 3: Choose the Right Network (Blockchain)

Aave operates on several different networks. By default, it is set to the Ethereum network. However, Ethereum has one big drawback for beginners: transaction costs (fees) can be very high.

So that high costs don’t eat into your earnings, switch the network in the upper right corner to Polygon, Arbitrum, or Base. These are so-called Layer 2 networks, which work excellently, and transactions cost only a few cents. That way your profit stays clean.

Step 4: Deposit Your Funds and Start Earning (Supply)

On the dashboard, you will see a column titled Assets to supply.

  1. Find the coin you have in your wallet (e.g., USDC).
  2. You will see the APY figure – this is your annual interest rate.
  3. Click the Supply button.
  4. Enter the amount you want to deposit and confirm the transaction in your MetaMask wallet.

Congratulations! At that moment, you officially became a capital lender. Your funds have started generating interest, which you can watch grow on your screen in real time. You can withdraw your funds whenever you want – there are no lock-ups like those at banks.

Comparing Returns: Bank vs. Aave

To help you better picture the power of this system, let’s look at a simple comparison table between traditional savings and smart lending on the Aave platform.

FeatureTraditional Bank in SloveniaAave Protocol (DeFi)
Annual Yield (Interest)Extremely low (usually up to 1%)Much higher (often between 5% and 12%+)
Lock-up of FundsOften required for higher interestNo lock-up, withdraw at any time
Interest Payout SpeedOnce a year or monthlyEvery second (continuously)
Hidden CostsAccount maintenance, custody fees, withdrawal feesOnly minimal blockchain transaction fees
ManagementDependent on business hours and bank approval100% self-managed, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

The table clearly shows why smart people are moving part of their capital into decentralized systems. Exploring the Menu: “Resources” and “Developers” on Aave

As you start digging deeper into Aave, you’ll notice two more important tabs at the top of the website: Resources and Developers. Although it may sound technical, they contain information that can be extremely helpful to you as a beginner in understanding the market and increasing the security of your funds.

The Resources Tab

  • Blog: Here the Aave team publishes the latest news, update information, and previews of what’s ahead. Following the blog lets you stay one step ahead of everyone else and learn about new earning opportunities in time.
  • Brand: This is where you’ll find the official logos and design materials. It’s mainly useful for those who write about crypto or create content.
  • FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions): A very important section for beginners. If you run into a problem or have doubts, you’ll find quick, clear answers here to the most common questions about how the protocol works.
  • Help & Support: If you get stuck somewhere, you can quickly find a solution to your specific problem through the official guides and articles.
  • Governance: Aave has no CEO or board of directors. The protocol is governed by users who hold the AAVE token. This is where discussions and votes take place on how the platform will evolve. As a user, you have the opportunity to take part in decision-making, which gives the platform tremendous strength and transparency.

The Developers Tab

  • Case Studies: An overview of the best and most successful projects built on top of the Aave protocol. This gives you a broader picture of how massive and important this network is in the crypto world as a whole.
  • Documentation: Technical manuals for programmers. If you want to know exactly how the smart contract code is written, this is the right place. For those of us mainly looking for practical earnings, though, it’s proof that the project is fully open-source (Open-source) and that nothing is hidden from the public.
  • Security: An extremely important tab. All audit reports (Audit reports) are published here. Aave regularly hires the world’s best cybersecurity firms to review its code and look for potential flaws. This gives you additional assurance that your money is locked up safely.
  • Bug Bounty: A program in which Aave offers large cash rewards (often hundreds of thousands of dollars) to ethical hackers who find any kind of security vulnerability in its system and report it before anyone can exploit it. This keeps the platform’s security at the highest possible level.

Security Tips for Beginners: How to Protect Your Crypto Earnings

As an expert in online business and cryptocurrencies, I have to impress a few key rules upon you. The world of decentralized finance offers incredible opportunities to earn, but it also comes with great responsibility. Here, you are in charge of your own security – there’s no bank you can call if you make a mistake.

So always follow these four golden rules:

  1. Watch out for fake websites (Phishing): When looking for Aave, always type the official address into your browser manually or save it in your bookmarks. Never click on sponsored links on Google, since they can take you to a fake site that looks exactly like Aave, and whose only goal is to drain your MetaMask wallet.
  2. Never share your seed phrase: No support agent, no one from the Aave team, and no one online will ever ask you for your 12 words. If someone tells you that you need to enter your seed phrase somewhere to fix a problem, it’s 100% a scam.
  3. Start with small amounts: Until you learn exactly how to confirm a transaction, how to switch networks, and how withdrawals work, start with an amount you won’t miss (e.g., 20 or 50 euros). Only once you’re completely confident in your clicks should you move on to larger amounts.
  4. Use a hardware wallet: If you plan to deposit larger sums of money on Aave, be sure to buy a device such as a Ledger or Trezor. It’s a physical device (it looks like a USB stick) that makes sure no transaction can leave your wallet without you physically pressing a button on the device. This makes you practically invulnerable to online hackers.

Advanced yet Simple Strategies for Maximizing Your Profit on Aave

Once you’ve successfully made your first deposit and seen how easy it is to earn interest every single second, you’ll surely want to boost your earnings even more. There’s a strategy used by seasoned veterans of the crypto world, and it’s called leveraging with stablecoins. It sounds complicated, but in practice it’s quite simple.

Imagine the following scenario:

  1. You deposit 1,000 USDC (a stablecoin pegged to the dollar) into Aave. For this deposit, you earn, for example, 6% annual interest.
  2. Because you’ve provided collateral, Aave lets you borrow funds. You borrow USDT (another stablecoin, also pegged to the dollar) worth 500 euros. For this loan, you pay, for example, 3% interest.
  3. Now you deposit those borrowed 500 USDT back into the system as Supply and earn 6% interest on them again.

What have you done? You’ve cleverly taken advantage of the difference between the lending rate and the borrowing rate. Since both assets are stablecoins, there’s no risk of one coin’s price dropping drastically and the system liquidating you. Your total capital is now working with much greater power, and your final return is significantly higher than if you had simply left the original 1,000 USDC sitting in a safe.

This is just one of the advanced techniques successful investors use to generate serious passive income. The crypto world offers a huge number of such hidden paths to profit that most people don’t even know about.

If you’d like to learn more about advanced strategies like these, I invite you once again to my free webinar. Click this link and register, and together we’ll set out on the path to your first successful steps in crypto.
