How to Make Money with AI

A few years ago, creating an e-book, a series of social media posts, or a package of graphics would have required a writer, a designer, and weeks of work. Today, you can do most of it yourself, in an afternoon, with the help of artificial intelligence. AI content has become one of the most accessible ways to earn money online, even for complete beginners.

In this article, I’ll show you practically which AI content you can create, which tools to use, where to sell it, and how to avoid the mistakes that keep most people from earning a single dollar. No theory, just things you can use today.

Quick answer for those in a hurry:
With AI, you can create text, images, videos, and digital products like e-books, templates, coloring books, or social media posts. You sell them as digital products on platforms (Etsy, Amazon KDP, Gumroad) or as services to businesses (copywriting, social media management). The key to earning isn’t just the tool, but choosing the right niche, editing the content yourself, and consistent marketing.

What exactly is AI content?

AI is short for Artificial Intelligence. It refers to computer programs that can create text, images, audio, or video based on your instructions.

When we talk about creating content, we usually mean generative artificial intelligence. The word generative means the tool creates (generates) something new, not just analyzes it. For example: ChatGPT writes text, Midjourney draws images, ElevenLabs records voice.

AI content is therefore any content where artificial intelligence helped you: articles, e-books, graphics, videos, product descriptions, Instagram posts, and so on.

What is a prompt?

This is the most important term you need to know. A prompt is an instruction you enter into an AI tool. The better your prompt, the better the result.

Bad prompt: »Write an Instagram post.«
Good prompt: »You’re an experienced marketing professional. Write 3 Instagram posts for a Slovenian beauty salon promoting fall skincare. The tone should be warm and relaxed, each post should be up to 80 words, include a call to book an appointment, and 5 relevant hashtags.«

The difference in results is enormous. That’s why I’ll also show you a simple formula for writing prompts below.

Why now is the right time to earn with AI content

Businesses, entrepreneurs, and individuals need more and more content. Every business wants to be present on social media, have a blog, good product descriptions, and newsletters. At the same time, most business owners don’t have the time or knowledge to use AI tools themselves.

That’s where your opportunity lies. You’re not selling “artificial intelligence,” you’re selling saved time and results. Your client doesn’t care which tool you used. They care whether the content brings them customers.

Plus, the startup costs are incredibly low. Most tools have a free version, and paid ones cost about as much as a few coffees a month. You don’t need inventory, storage, or an office.

Best AI tools for beginners

You don’t need to know hundreds of tools. Three to four are enough to start.

Text tools

  • ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini – so-called AI chatbots. You enter a prompt and get text. They’re useful for articles, e-books, product descriptions, emails, and ideas.

Image and design tools

  • Canva – web-based design tool with built-in AI features. Perfect for posts, templates, and presentations. Available at canva.com
  • Midjourney, Ideogram, or built-in image generators in ChatGPT – create images from descriptions. Ideogram is especially good when you need text on the image.

Video and audio tools

  • CapCut – simple editing for short videos for TikTok, Reels, and YouTube Shorts, with AI subtitles.
  • ElevenLabs – converts text to natural speech. Useful for videos where you don’t want to appear yourself.
  • HeyGen – creates video with an AI avatar. An avatar is a digital character that speaks for you.

My advice: start with one text tool and Canva. With these two, you can create most of the products mentioned in this article.

7 ways to create content with AI and sell it

Now for the most important part. Below are the methods that work best for beginners. For each one, I’ll tell you what you do, what tools you use, and where you sell.

1. Writing copy for businesses (copywriting)

Copywriting means writing sales copy: ads, product descriptions, websites, and newsletters.

How to get started: use AI to write a draft, then edit it, adjust the tone, and fact-check. Offer your services to local businesses, online stores, or through platforms like Fiverr and Upwork. Fiverr and Upwork are online marketplaces where businesses look for freelancers.

Example offers: 20 product descriptions for an online store, a package of 10 social media posts, or copy for a landing page. A landing page is a web page designed for a single offer.

Advantage for Slovenians: most AI tools still write in Slovenian somewhat awkwardly. If you can turn text into natural, flowing Slovenian, you have a competitive advantage that foreign providers don’t have.

2. Managing social media as a service

Many small business owners know they should post regularly, but don’t have the time. You can offer them a monthly package.

How to get started: use AI to prepare a monthly posting plan, copy, and graphics in Canva. A content calendar is a spreadsheet where you record what and when you’ll post.

Where to find customers: hair salons, beauty salons, restaurants, gyms, real estate agencies in your area. Reach out to them directly or contact them on social media.

This is one of the most stable forms of income because it’s recurring monthly revenue, meaning payment you receive every month.

3. E-books and digital guides

A digital product is a product that buyers download to their computer or phone. You create it once and can sell it unlimited times.

How to get started: choose a narrow topic where people are looking for a solution. For example: “4-Week Meal Plan for Working Parents,” “Instagram Beginner’s Guide for Small Business Owners,” or “Moving Checklist with Kids.” Use AI to prepare the structure and draft, supplement the content with your own experience, and design it in Canva.

Where to sell: Gumroad, your own website, or Amazon KDP. Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) is Amazon’s platform where you can publish an e-book or print book for free.

4. Templates and printables on Etsy

Printables are files that buyers print at home: planners, calendars, to-do lists, invitations, coloring pages. Etsy is an online marketplace for handmade and digital products.

How to get started: use AI to find ideas and text, then design in Canva. Canva templates also sell very well—these are templates that buyers customize themselves, for example, templates for posts, resumes, or presentations.

Tip: don’t compete in broad categories. “Planner” is too wide. “Planner for work-from-home moms” or “Wedding planning planner” is narrow enough that customers will find you.

5. Coloring books and activity books

This is a popular model on Amazon KDP. Use AI to create coloring book illustrations, combine them into a PDF, and publish as a printed book. Amazon prints it only when someone orders it. This is called print on demand.

Important: Amazon asks during publishing whether the content was created with AI. Answer honestly. Also, check each image carefully because AI often makes mistakes, like drawing six fingers or incorrect shapes.

6. Designs for t-shirts and products (print on demand)

With print on demand, you create a design and the platform prints it on a t-shirt, mug, or bag when someone orders. You don’t keep inventory and don’t ship anything yourself.

How to get started: use AI to create ideas and designs, then upload them to platforms like Spreadshirt or Etsy (with Printful or Printify integration).

Warning: never use famous characters, logos, or trademarks. Even if AI draws them, you’re violating the owner’s rights and risking account closure.

7. Short faceless videos

Faceless means videos where you don’t appear personally. Write a script with AI, create voiceover with ElevenLabs, and edit the video in CapCut.

How to earn: through ad revenue on YouTube, sponsorships, promoting your own digital products, or affiliate marketing. With affiliate marketing, you recommend other people’s products and receive a commission for each sale through your link.

Important: platforms reward original and useful content. Mass-produced, repetitive videos with no added value usually won’t generate income. Add your perspective, an interesting story, or useful advice.

The formula for writing prompts that work

Most beginners give up because they get average results. The reason is almost always a bad prompt. I use a simple five-part formula:

  1. Role – who should the AI “become.” Example: “You are an experienced copywriter for the Slovenian market.”
  • Task – exactly what you want. Example: “Write a product description for an online store.”
  • Context – background. Example: “The product is a natural hand cream, the target audience is women who work a lot in the garden.”
  • Format – how the text should be structured. Example: “A title, 3 bullet points with benefits and a short paragraph, up to 120 words total.”
  • Tone – how it should sound. Example: “Warm, friendly, without exaggeration.”
  • Example prompts you can copy right away

    For an e-book:
“You are an expert in personal finance. Prepare the structure of an e-book titled ‘How to Save on Your Family Budget’. The target audience is young parents in Slovenia. Create 8 chapters, each with 3 subchapters and a brief description of the content.”

    For social media:
“You are a social media manager. Prepare a content calendar for 4 weeks for a local bakery. For each week, 3 posts: one educational, one entertaining, one promotional. Add a suggested image for each post.”

    For finding a niche:
“Suggest 15 ideas for digital products you could sell on Etsy for people preparing for a wedding. For each idea, assess whether it’s more suitable for beginners or advanced users.”

Tip: don’t stop after the first response. Keep writing: “Make it more specific,” “Cut it in half,” “Add a real-world example.” AI tools work best in conversation.

Practical plan: your first 7 steps to earning with AI content

So you don’t just read, I’ve prepared a concrete plan for you.

    1. Choose one earning model. Not all eight at once. Pick the one that’s closest to you. If you like writing, choose copywriting. If you like design, choose printables.
    2. Choose a narrow niche. A niche is a smaller group of people with a specific need. Instead of “businesses,” choose “hair salons” or “real estate agencies.”
    3. Create 3 to 5 samples. This will be your portfolio, a collection of examples of your work that you show to customers or buyers.
    4. Edit each piece of content manually. Read it, fix the grammar, add your own experience, and verify facts. This is the difference between content that sells and content that nobody buys.
    5. Set a price. For digital products, start with a lower price to get your first reviews. For services, offer a package with clear content.
    6. Publish and offer. Upload the product to a platform or send an offer to ten potential customers.
    7. Measure and improve. Track what sells. Double what works. Change or drop what doesn’t.

In my experience, most people get stuck at step 6. They create great content, but then they don’t show it to anyone. Sales are part of the job, not an add-on.

How much can you earn with AI content?

This is the question I get most often. The honest answer is: it depends on the model, the niche, and your effort.

Here are some illustrative examples for a better understanding:

    • A package of 10 social media posts for a local business can be offered for several tens to a few hundred euros, depending on the scope and quality. If you have five regular customers, this becomes a nice monthly income.
    • A digital planner on Etsy for a few euros per sale. Individual sales are small, but you create the product once and can sell it all the time.
    • An e-book for a narrow niche can have a higher price because it solves a specific problem.

Most importantly, understand the difference between services and digital products. Services bring in money faster, but they require your time. Digital products take longer to start selling, but then they generate more passive income, meaning revenue you don’t have to work for every time.

My recommendation for beginners: start with a service to earn your first euros quickly, and build digital products at the same time.

The most common mistakes when selling AI content

I see these mistakes again and again. Avoid them and you’ll be ahead of most competitors.

    • Copying without editing. Raw text from AI tools sounds generic and buyers recognize it. Always edit it and add a personal touch.
    • Too broad a niche. “An e-book about health” won’t sell. “Breakfasts for busy people who have 10 minutes” has a clear customer.
    • Ignoring copyright. Don’t create content with famous characters, brands, or mimicking well-known authors.
    • Unverified facts. AI sometimes makes up data, sources, or numbers. This is called hallucination. Always verify all important information.
    • Hiding AI use where disclosure is required. Some platforms, such as Amazon KDP and Etsy, require you to disclose when content is created with AI. Rules are changing, so always check them before publishing.
    • Waiting for perfection. It’s better to publish a good product today than a perfect one never.

How to make AI content better than the competition

Since everyone has access to AI tools, the winner is the one who adds something the tool doesn’t have. These are:

    • Your experience. A story from practice, a customer example, or your own advice makes content credible.
    • Local knowledge. You know the Slovenian market, habits, language, and humor. This is value that foreign AI tools don’t capture well.
    • Quality design. A beautifully designed e-book or template sells better than the same content in a plain document.
    • Solution to a specific problem. People don’t buy content, they buy solutions.

Frequently asked questions about AI content and earning

Can I earn with AI if I have no knowledge?

Yes. Most AI tools are simple to use because you write instructions in plain language. Start with one tool and one earning model, for example writing social media posts, and learn as you go.

Which AI tool is best for beginners?

To start, I recommend ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini for text and Canva for design. With these two types of tools, you can create most content that sells well, from posts to e-books and templates.

    Is selling AI content allowed?

Generally yes, but you must comply with individual platform rules and copyrights. Some platforms require you to disclose AI use. Never use protected characters, logos, or others’ work.

How long does it take to earn your first euros with AI?

With services like writing copy for businesses, you can earn your first euros in a few weeks if you actively seek customers. Digital products on platforms usually take longer for customers to find them.

Do I have to pay for AI tools?

Not necessarily. Most tools have a free version that’s enough to get started. Choose the paid version when you start earning and need more capacity.

Conclusion: start with one piece of content today

AI content is not a magic wand, but it’s an incredible tool that saves you time and opens doors to earning that were previously closed. The most important thing is not which tool you use, but that you choose one model, one niche, and start.

    To summarize:

    • choose one earning method (service or digital product),
    • choose a narrow niche with a clear buyer,
    • use good prompts following the formula role–task–context–format–tone,
    • manually edit each piece of content and add your experience,
    • actively offer content to customers and clients.

Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Open an AI tool, write your first prompt, and create your first product this week.
